BRITISH ARTIST TO DIRECT A SHOW FOR THE FIRST TIME IN CHINA
FASHION WEEK
London, November 26
Distributed by PR Newswire Europe on behalf of Dianne Stanley.
British artist Dianne Stanley flies to China today (Friday) to direct the
show on December 2 of trend-setting young Chinese fashion designer Fang Yeng
at the fifth International Chinese Fashion Show in Beijing. Similar to the
London Fashion Week, this is the first time a British artist has been asked
to direct at this leading event which will be attended by members of the Chinese
Government and the British Ambassador.
Dianne studied textile design and won the Sanderson and Leverhulme travel
scholarships which took her to study in Italy, Switzerland and Paris, where
she designed for the Lanvin couture collection.
Her interests have since expanded from printed textiles to the more detailed
miniaturist work of hand painting on silk. This has led to an interest in
the arts of the east and it was through Dianne's involvement with the East
Meets West Foundation in Telford, Shropshire, that led to her work becoming
known in China and to their invitation to her.
"This is very exciting for me going there as China is showing such growing
fashion interest," said Dianne, who meets Fang Yeng for the first time
when she arrives in China. "Fang has sent me sketches of her work and
it is very modern using soft fabrics. I shall be responsible for hair, make-up,
lighting and music and all I know is that her show will be called ZERO and
will have three colour scenes - white, yellow and green. The first rehearsal
is on Monday November 29."
