MUSIC
FROM THE INSIDE - A PERFORMERS PERSPECTIVE.
Course No. 016. Tutors - Garry Clarke and Ruth Theobald
This course given by members of PLATFORM 4 - Staffordshire University ensemble
in residence - looks at how musicians examine and evaluate the music they are
performing , not only through the notes on the page, but by taking an overview
of composers, their lives and social conditions and insight into the types of
instruments and performing styles that were about in the day. Do performers
benefit from knowing a composers life history or social background? Course participants
who play an instrument or sing are encouraged to bring along any piece they
are currently working towards performing and the weekend will end on Sunday
afternoon with a recital by PLATFORM 4.
